For 170 years, the Canterbury Jockey Club (CJC) has been at the forefront of New Zealand racing, delivering some of the country’s most prestigious race meetings. Today, Riccarton Park hosts 31 race days each season, with the highlight being the celebrated New Zealand Cup Meeting in November.

The CJC is now seeking an experienced and hands-on Finance Manager to join the leadership team. This is a pivotal role that combines financial management, operational oversight, and project leadership across both racing and hospitality functions. While racing industry experience isn’t essential, a strong background in hospitality, events, or service-driven businesses will be highly valued.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the CEO with preparation of the finance aspects of the annual business plan.
  • Oversee the preparation of accurate monthly and annual financial statements and reports up to Board level.
  • Manage budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow.
  • Lead information management and ICT systems within external support consultants.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory and reporting obligations.
  • Manage and develop staff within the business services team.
  • Contribute to project work, business analysis, and process improvement initiatives.

About You:

  • Proven experience in other senior financial roles, with good organisational skills.
  • Someone who likes a role with lots of variety and plenty of operational involvement.
  • Flexible, proactive, and comfortable contributing as part of the leadership group.
  • Strong systems user. Experience with Xero an advantage.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships across all levels.
