About the Role

We have an exciting 7 month fixed-term opportunity (for parental leave cover) for a Financial Accountant to join our Cambridge-based team. The fixed term cover is from 1 June 2026 to 24 December 2026. Reporting to the Finance Lead, this role plays a key part in ensuring continuity, accuracy, and excellence across our finance function during this period.  

As part of a small, collaborative finance team, you’ll take ownership of core accounting activities, including preparing accounting journals, balance sheet reconciliations, tax returns and financial statements. You’ll contribute to annual reporting, respond to audit queries, and support budgeting processes, while also analysing financial data to identify discrepancies and drive corrective actions across our systems.

This role offers the opportunity to make a real impact in a defined timeframe. We’re looking for someone who can quickly build strong working relationships, learn to understand NZTR’s business and industry, and develop a clear view of how operational activity flows through to financial outcomes, while confidently working within well‑established processes to ensure continuity during this fixed‑term period.

About the Person

You’ll be a Chartered Accountant or bring at least three years’ relevant accounting experience. You’ll have strong technical and analytical skills, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to communicate clearly and confidently with a range of stakeholders.

You’ll be positive, adaptable, and comfortable stepping into a fixed‑term role where collaboration, initiative, and relationship‑building are key.
