Foreman

What is a Foreman?

A stable foreman is a senior staff member in a racing stable who plays a crucial role in the daily management and care of racehorses. They work closely with the trainer and are often considered the second-in-command in the stable.

Some of the key responsibilities of a Foreman include:

  • Daily horse management
  • Staff supervision
  • Stable operations
  • Communication with trainer

A stable foreman is like the manager of the racing barn—keeping everything running smoothly so the trainer can focus on getting winners on the track.

Michaela Sobieská

As Foreman at Roger James and Robert Wellwood's Kingsclere Stables, Michaela Sobieská  been closely associated with glamour girls Prowess and Orchestral as they conquered Trans-Tasman Gr.1 success. However, just six years ago Michaela moved from the other side of the world unable to speak English and having never worked with racehorses in her life.

Originally from the Czech Republic, Michaela found herself in Australia's Gold Coast looking for a change of lifestyle. Coincidently, she lived in the Magic Millions complex and was fascinated by the horses and riders outside her window heading to track work each morning. She decided to give it a go and the rest is history!
