ONTRACK RACING LTD

OnTrack

  • Make a difference to the horse and greyhound racing community
  • Programme delivery / Training delivery role
  • Tight-knit team based in Ellerslie

OnTrack Racing is a charitable organisation dedicated to improving mental wellbeing and preventing suicide across New Zealand’s, Thoroughbred, Greyhound and Harness. We deliver evidence-based training, practical support, and community development programmes that build resilience and foster a culture of care across Aotearoa.

This is a peer support model and is not a clinical role. Instead, it focuses on equipping a community with the skills, confidence, and tools to support each other, backed by referral networks and industry-wide initiatives. It builds on racing’s strengths, teamwork, pride, and shared responsibility, to embed wellbeing into daily track life.

About the role

We are looking for two people to join our team. The roles are hands on ensuring awareness, engagement, and support across the racing workforce. You’ll regularly attend race meetings, stables/kennels, and stakeholder events, actively supporting and advocating for the mental health needs of industry participants. You will be responsible for securing bookings, leading and facilitate training and workshops, strengthen peer support networks, provide crisis response when needed, and embed OnTrack’s evidence-based programmes into everyday racing life.

This role is both rewarding and challenging and you will be backed by a supportive, passionate team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build relationships and promote OnTrack’s programmes across the racing industry.
  • Deliver and co-facilitate training (OnTrack to Action, OnTrack Yaks, OnTrack to ASIST, OnTrack Champions, OnTrack to Grow, Workplace Accreditation).
  • Mentor and support OnTrack Champions across the three racing codes.
  • Provide frontline support: referrals, crisis response, and postvention.
  • Capture and report data in our CRM to measure programme effectiveness.
  • Share insights and feedback to help shape programme development.
  • Collaborate closely with a small, dedicated team and external providers (counselling, financial advice, etc.).
  • Contribute to promotional projects and awareness campaigns.
  • Occasionally support logistics such as stock management and event coordination.

About You

Must-haves:

  • Experience in booking trainings, delivering training and speaking confidently to groups.
  • Strong relationship-building skills and comfort with phone and in-person conversations.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • Resilience and compassion when working in suicide prevention (monthly counselling provided).
  • Current driver’s licence and ability to travel across New Zealand (weekly/fortnightly, driving and flying).
  • Flexibility to work racing hours, including evenings and weekends.

Nice-to-haves:

  • LivingWorks ASIST or SafeTALK training (or willingness to complete).
  • Experience or networks in the racing industry.
  • Awareness of the charitable sector.
  • Adaptability and initiative suited to a fast-growing organisation.

What We Offer

  • Competitive remuneration and company vehicle.
  • Monthly counselling/supervision.
  • A supportive, passionate team environment.
  • The chance to make a lasting impact on people’s lives.
  • Opportunities for growth: potential to move into senior facilitation, project leadership, or programme development roles as OnTrack expands.

Other Information

The role will entail working outside normal business hours (Racing hours) with significant national and occasional international travel. This will require sound time management skills and flexibility in how you structure your working day/week. The preferred applicant will be required to complete a New Zealand Police National Police Check application form and must already hold a valid work visa or be a permanent resident/citizen of NZ.
