Racing & Events Manager

Wairarapa Full time permanent role. Salary based on experience – Growth incentive scheme - Reporting directly to the General Manager

Tauherenikau Racecourse & Events Centre is a leading Wairarapa venue, hosting major race meetings, festivals, weddings, private functions and a busy holiday park. We are seeking a professional and organised Racing and Events manager to support the promotion of our events, racing programme and accommodation offerings.

Position Overview
This role is full time and is responsible for delivering events and race days including marketing and communications activity across digital, social and print channels. The successful candidate will contribute to strengthening Tauherenikau’s brand presence and community engagement and also deliver the race day responsibilities throughout the year including sponsorship, entertainment and identifying and developing growth opportunities for the future.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement marketing campaigns for race days, festivals, events and accommodation
• Manage social media channels, including content creation, scheduling and performance monitoring
• Produce written content for promotional materials, website updates and media releases
• Maintain and update website content to ensure accuracy and relevance
• Create digital and print marketing assets
• Support ticket sales and event promotion through targeted digital activity
• Coordinate advertising and promotional activity with external suppliers and media partners
• Monitor analytics and report on campaign performance
• Deliver race day and event logistics and performance
• Identify growth opportunities through events, function and the utilisation of Tauherenikau’ s assets

Candidate Requirements

• Event management skills and experience would be beneficial but not essential
• Strong writing and content creation skills
• Experience managing social media and digital marketing activity
• Proficiency with Mailchimp, Canva and/or Adobe Creative Suite
• Experience using CMS platforms (WordPress preferred)
• Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently
• Photography and basic video editing skills advantageous
• Experience in tourism, hospitality or racing beneficial but not essential
