Wexford Stables in Matamata are seeking a senior stable staff member.

We are looking for a reliable, hard-working, and honest person to join our team in a senior role.

This is an opportunity for someone with a good understanding of horses and stable operations who can take responsibility, help oversee daily routines, and play an important role in the management and care of our horses.

The role will involve:

• Supervising and assisting with daily stable operations.
• Overseeing the care, handling, and management of racing Thoroughbreds.
• Working with young horses and helping develop them for their racing careers.
• Supporting and guiding other stable staff to ensure work is completed to a high standard.
• Maintaining high standards of equine welfare, stable presentation, and general organisation.

The successful applicant will be:

• Reliable and hard-working, with a strong work ethic.
• Experienced in handling Thoroughbreds (including young horses).
• Capable of handling big colts.
• Confident in taking responsibility and helping manage and supervise others.
• Calm, practical, and attentive to the needs of horses.
• A team player who takes pride in their work and contributes positively to the stable environment.

Previous experience in a senior or supervisory role would be an advantage.

Applicants must be eligible to work in New Zealand.
