Strapper

What is a Strapper?

A strapper is a person responsible for the hands-on daily care of racehorses in a stable. In New Zealand and Australia, the term "strapper" is commonly used, while in other countries (like the UK and US), similar roles are called grooms.

Some of the key responsibilities of a Strapper include:

  • Horse care
  • Handling horses
  • Raceday preparation
  • Stable maintenance

Strappers play a vital behind-the-scenes role. They form close bonds with the horses and are often the ones who know each horse’s personality and quirks best.

A good strapper is essential to a happy, healthy, and race-ready horse.
