Thoroughbred Trackwork Rider Course

The Level 3 New Zealand Certificate in Equine Skills - Trackwork Rider lasts 9 months and is designed for people who are riding Thoroughbred racehorses as part of their job, or looking to gain their Assistant Trainer or Class B licence.

This course builds on the Level 3 Trackwork Riding Skills and Safety course. You can enrol into this qualification upon completion of the Trackwork Riding Skills and Safety course or enrol directly into this course if you already have a track work license. This course also forms a compulsory aspect of the career pathway to gain an Assistant Trainers license or a Class B license

Once you have gained a slow work license you may ride any registered Thoroughbred that your employer has deemed suitable for your riding ability.

You can further your riding experience under the supervision of your employer to ride faster than half pace.

You will need an attestation from your employer and a senior trackwork rider or jockey as evidence of your competency to ride fast work
