Trackwork Riding Skills & Safety

The Level 3 Limited Credit Programme - Trackwork Riding Skills & Safety for a Slow Work Licence is a 4-month course that costs $195 which covers the cost of your Slow Work Licence upon completion.

To be able to ride any registered Thoroughbred racehorse you must have obtained your Slow Trackwork Licence. This course is a mandatory element of the slow work licensing process. It involves an online quiz, an assessment of competency via two unit standards, a fitness test and a riding assessment.

Once you have gained a slow work license you may ride any registered Thoroughbred that your employer has deemed suitable for your riding ability.

You can further your riding experience under the supervision of your employer to ride faster than half-pace. To do this, you will need an attestation from your employer and a senior trackwork rider or jockey as evidence of your competency to ride fast-work

Once competently riding trackwork, you can then upgrade your licence to a Fastwork Licence for no extra cost.
